We specialise in HASS Research Software Engineering (RSE) and HASS Research Software Practice (RSP) and have a wide range of experts in the team: refer to our Research Services Catalogue for more information. Digital consultancy is at the heart of what we do, bringing our expertise in digital research methods together with tools and infrastructure.
Our primary purpose is to help colleagues develop grant bids with digital components, and then build and maintain the resulting outputs. Pre-grant analysis from HDRH is free for ANU staff. We can either collaborate with you closely, taking an active role in intellectual aspects of the project, or take a more straight-forward approach to designing and costing a technical product.
Our consultancies often result in technical development but not always: our goal is to help colleagues plan and deliver their digital research. If that means you end up building something yourself or working with colleagues elsewhere at ANU or around the world, we’ll count that as a success too.
Our collaborations are varied, from the straight-forward design and delivery of digital outputs to close intellectual collaboration resulting in co-authored journal articles and conference papers. Like any research collaboration, the eventual shape of our work together will reflect our mutual interests and priorities. Primarily, however, we provide research services: we exist to help you achieve your research goals.
Our consultancy support extends to skills development and training. We offer in person and online drop-in sessions to help you work through concept development or programming issues. We can also support or lead workshops and events in digital research methods.
The team can also help with innovation and commercialisation, if you have ideas that could have impact beyond the research sector.
