The Research Software Engineering Capacity Enhancement Project (RSE-CEP) is a co-investment partnership with the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) through the HASS and Indigenous Research Data Commons (DOI: 10.3565/x5f6-mw53). The ARDC is enabled by the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). The project team includes:
- James Smithies, Director, HASS Digital Research Hub.
- Peter Sefton, Principal Research Software Engineering Fellow, HASS Digital Research Hub.
- Mat Bettinson, Principal Research Software Engineer, HASS Digital Research Hub.
- Junran Lei, Senior Research Software Engineer, HASS Digital Research Hub.
- Nick Jenkins, ARDC Program Manager, Research Software.
- Robin Burgess, ARDC Project Manager.
Tim Sherratt will provide consultancy and masterclasses over the course of the project.
RSE-CEP will provide updated architectural principles, a technology roadmap, and detailed explanations of common RSE patterns for the HASS and Indigenous research community as part of the ARDC HASS and Indigenous (HASS and Indigenous) Research Data Commons (RDC) Community Data Lab (CDL). The project will benefit:
- Researchers in HASS and Indigenous fields who use custom software-based data collection, processing, storage, analysis and/or publishing methods
- ‘Researchers-who-code’ (and researchers who want to code or are vibe-coding) and Research Software Engineers (RSEs) in the HASS and Indigenous sector
- Software Engineers who are working in the HASS and Indigenous research sector
- GLAM sector technical managers and staff
